How to use

Follow these simple steps to get started

Step 01

PREP

File, buff, and cleanse the nail thoroughly. Push back cuticles. The nail plate should be clean, dry, and free of any oils — this is your foundation.

Step 02

LOAD THE PEN

Twist the base of the pen slowly until product just reaches the tip — less is more. You're not dispensing, you're loading intentionally.

Step 03

PLACE & SCULPT

Touch the tip to the nail and let the gel flow with control. Use the brush end to shape — think thin strokes for detail work, or build in thin layers for structure. Work one nail at a time.

Step 04

CURE, INSPECT & REFINE

Hold still. 60 seconds under your lamp, no exceptions. Rushing this step is the enemy of longevity. After cure, check for any unevenness. You can add a second layer and cure again if you need more structure or depth.

How do I use Shapex?

Dispense a small amount of gel directly from the tube by twisting twice at a time onto the nail. Because of its low viscosity, Shapex flows and self-levels beautifully, allowing you to shape with ease. Use a brush to build and sculpt to your desired shape before curing.

How long do I cure Shapex for?

Shapex is compatible with both LED and UV lamps. We recommend curing for 60 seconds under a professional LED lamp. Always refer to your specific lamp's guidelines, as wattage may vary. Full cure times will be included with your product.

Would it need a slip layer like usual builder gels?

No — and this is where Shapex truly sets itself apart. Thanks to its fluid, low viscosity formula, Shapex flows and self-levels naturally, eliminating the need for a slip layer. Less steps, cleaner results.

Will it be soak off?

Yes, Shapex is soak off, making removal straightforward and gentle on the natural nail.

How does Shapex compare to Candy Coat's Classic Build-a-nail and Butter Base formulas?

Each of our formulas has been created with a specific purpose in mind. Classic Build is a medium viscosity base, offering a reliable, controlled application that's perfect for everyday wear. Butter Base is a high viscosity formula designed to create a harder, more structured finish. Shapex is something entirely different — a fluid, low viscosity builder gel that flows freely from its patented tube, allowing you to shape, sculpt, and build with a level of ease and speed that neither formula was designed to deliver. Three formulas, each with their own strength.

How should I store Shapex?

Store your Shapex tube upright, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. As with all gel products, exposure to UV light before curing can affect the formula, so always ensure the cap is securely closed between uses. Keep at room temperature for the best consistency and flow.

How do I keep my brush clean when using Shapex?

After each use, wipe your brush thoroughly on a lint-free wipe to remove any excess gel before it cures. For a deeper clean, use a small amount of cleanser or isopropyl alcohol on a wipe and gently work through the bristles. Never soak your brush or leave gel to cure on it — a clean brush is the foundation of a clean build.
