HOW TO REMOVE YOUR COLOUR FASTER THAN AN F1 PIT STOP.

Whether it’s because you’ve got one nail left out of ten or simply because you want to jump on that nail trend immediately, we know that when you want to remove your polish, you REALLY want to get it off. Like, yesterday. We’ve been there many times. We get it. That’s why we’ve dedicated this week’s post to everything you need to know about removing your gel manicure (almost) faster than the speed of light, because there’s nothing worse than that snagging feeling when your hair gets caught under your lifting gel polish *shudder*!

We know too well the temptation that comes with wanting to pick and peel off your gel polish. That moment of satisfaction will be fleeting, but the damage you inflict on your nails could take weeks to repair. Here are all the steps you need to remove your gel polish like a pro.

STEP 1 | FILE IT, BABY.

Removing your polish couldn't be easier with Candy Coat. Grab your trusty Candy Coat Nail File and start giving the top coat a light buff. Avoid using heavy backwards and forwards motions in order to prevent heat building up in the polish and transferring to the nail itself. That’s not comfortable, trust us. Make sure to use a light hand and only remove the topcoat seal to minimise damage. You know you’ve removed enough of the topcoat when the colour starts to fade and the overall finish becomes dull.

STEP 2 | GET SOAKING.

Now for the step that will test your patience. Place a cotton ball or pad in our bubblegum acetone for a good soak and then apply to the nail, wrapping the tip of your finger in foil to hold it in place. Repeat on all of your nails and then wait for up to 10 minutes for the acetone to dissolve the gel polish. One of the biggest mistakes that can lead to the gel not coming off completely is not soaking the cotton enough as acetone evaporates quickly. So more is more in this case. You'll know the acetone has fully removed the gel when the polish looks lifted from the nail and should start to simply flake off . PRO TIP: wrap your hands in a warm towel or a heating pad to help the acetone work even faster.

STEP 3 | SCRAPE CENTRAL.

Once the acetone soaked cotton has been removed, use our neon pink sticks or our pink gel polish scraper to gently scrape the gel off, buff your nails then wipe away the dust with our bubblegum clean, prep and wipe. It’s as simple as that!

Psst! If you’re looking for an even faster removal solution, Popping Candy is the best option. Specifically formulated to remove gel polish quickly and safely within minutes. 1 - 3 minutes to be precise! File away the topcoat as before, then apply a generous amount directly and delicately onto gel polish on nails for up to 3 minutes MAX or until you begin to see the product pop.

Until next time, stay sweet!
